Technology and Software Controls

 

This intermediate level session will offer a comprehensive look at how to comply with the U.S. export and reexport controls relating to technology and software. Discussion will focus on the regulatory requirements relating to technology and software, including what is considered an export or reexport of technology or software; the kinds of technology and software subject to the Export Administration Regulations (EAR); how to determine the Export Control Classification Number; what license exceptions are available; and the unique application requirements of technology and software. BIS technical and policy specialists also will discuss important export control issues that may arise in the employment of foreign nationals and for foreign items incorporating, or produced from, controlled U.S.-origin software and technology.

Recommended prerequisite: Essentials of U.S. Export Controls or Complying with U.S. Export Controls or equivalent experience. 

 

About the Instructors

 

The instructors are experienced export policy specialists, engineers, and enforcement personnel from BIS's Washington, D.C. headquarters and field offices, as well as representatives from other U.S. government agencies as appropriate. The instructors will be available throughout the seminar to answer your questions on how the export regulations affect the export activities of your organization or client.

 

Location/time 


The program will be held at Norris Conference Center located at 816 Town & Country Blvd. Suite 210, Houston, Texas 77024. Registration and continental breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m. on January 25, 2018. The program will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m.

Registration


The registration fee for the Technology and Software Controls seminar is $250 per person before December 31 and $300 after. To register for both this program and the Complying with U.S. Export Controls seminar on January 25, 2018 the fee is $775 before December 31 and $845 after. The fee includes continental breakfasts, coffee breaks, lunches and materials for the entire seminar. Fee is not refundable after January 4, 2018. Substitutions may be made.
